    Welcome to CSI!

Welcome to CSI and to the reveal of our 118th Case File! The inspiration shared by our members in the gallery continually dazzles us, and we hope that you will be inspired to play with us again this week.

If you haven't yet seen the artists who were placed Under Surveillance this past week, be sure to scroll down on this front page. We have added an archive in the forums so that you can always check out the Under Surveillance line-ups for past Case Files, and we've created a permanent page for our Star Witnesses.

We are thrilled to have two main sponsors this month!

Darkroom Door is owned by photographer Rachel Greig and graphic designer Stewart Yule who combine their talents to design a unique range of rubber stamps and papercraft products suitable for card making, scrapbooking, invitations, collage, mixed media and altered art. As the name suggests, Darkroom Door products have a strong photographic element in their design.

Products include: Rubber Stamps, Photo Stamps, Background Stamps, Frame Stamps, Collage Stamps, Word Block Stamps, Montage sheets, Photochips, and Filmstrips along with a wide range of accessories for all type of paper crafts.

Darkroom Door also has a fabulous blog that is updated regularly with projects created by many talented artists.

Check out the Darkroom Door website to see their full product range along with a gallery full of projects and ideas!

One lucky CSI participant will win the beautiful Bright Blossoms collection (valued over $75), which includes: Bright Blossoms Vol 1 Rubber Stamps, Bright Blossoms Vol 2 Rubber Stamps, Bright Blossoms Photochips, Bright Blossoms Montage, Bright Blossoms Filmstrips and Wordstrips.

We're also excited to announce our second main sponsor, The Trinket Track.

Here are a few words from the owner, who is also a CSI Detective:

My name is Monica and I have been an avid papercrafter for 9 years. Beginning with scrapbooking, I have been extremely fortunate to be part of many design teams and creative teams in the industry, as well as having many publications in Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine, Scrapbook Creations and Creating Keepsakes.

I became interested in card making after buying my first Magnolia stamp just over 2 years ago - from that day on I was hooked!!

In 2011, I began to make and sell my own handmade goods but my main objective has always been to open up my own store so in September 2011 The Trinket Track was born!

I have many plans for my little store. The main one being of course, to expand the amount and variety of products and include both sourced materials as well as handmade stock.

I source popular on "trend" items as well as old favourites and sometimes, something a little different. We buy directly from the supplier which means we source our product in large bulk quantities keeping the cost down! We also offer no bulk shipping for national and international customers. This allows us to offer you a low price on postage costs.

We are based in Brisbane, QLD and always welcome customers who wish to pick up their parcels! 2014 will offer great changes to the store! Happy crafting!

One lucky player will win a voucher to spend at The Trinket Track. You can see the beautiful trinkets in use at The Trinket Track blog.

And we're so thankful to our wonderful and generous permanent sponsors.

Flying Unicorn...it’s about One of a Kind. They offer an incredible selection of products for all paper crafting artists. Their Kit of the Month is filled with the latest and greatest and includes an off-the-page project to keep your creative muse flowing! Be sure to check out the Flying Unicorn forums, a hot and happening place which includes monthly challenges, tips, techniques and friendships that last! They also have a blog and a Facebook page where you can find loads of inspiration!

We are also pleased to present a second permanent sponsor who will be offering a wonderful prize of beautiful ribbons and trims each week to our Star Witness.

Scrapbook Fantasies  is a Scrapbooking, Papercrafts and Mixed Media business opened in November 2002 in Gladstone, Queensland.  The well stocked store receives new stock daily, and supports a boutique style online store here.  The owner Alicia runs Weekly Challenges and many other competitions giving away over $250 dollars in store vouchers every month.  The Gallery  hosts thousands of customer creations, and is available for viewing without login. Parcels are posted within Australia at a flat $6.50 or the actual postage rate (whichever is the lesser), or FREE for orders over $100.  International parcels are posted at the actual postage rate.

We thank all of our sponsors for their generous prize donations to our CSI Members!

Favorites from our Collaboration Case File

There were so many fun and fabulous layouts submitted for our first Collaboration Case File! Here are our favorites from the Archi-Scraps Case File. These artists will be invited as Special Deputies for May.

La Sagrada Familia by Jo Tritton

Luna Park by Wendy Sue Bennett

    Storytelling by Kristi Brockschmidt

    St. Paul's Gilly Haigh

What I See by Sindi J.

We are so excited about our collaboration with Scrap365, UK's biggest and best scrapbooking magazine.

We shared our first Special Scrap365 Case File in August 2013 and are opening our fifth Case File during the month of April. After this Case File closes, we will be selecting our five favorite layouts to feature, and those people will be invited as CSI Special Deputies (guest designers) for June.

If you've never seen this magazine, it's awesome. I've subscribed to just about every scrapbook magazine over the years, and I must say, this is the very best publication I've ever seen. Each issue is chock-full of gorgeous layouts from scrappers around the world, every single one accompanied by commentary from the designer. There are numerous articles in each issue: trendy technique with step-by-step instructions; tons of inspiring articles on topics ranging from journaling to designer's styles to tips for using products by top-notch designers; pull-out sketches; and so much more. Scrap365 has an amazing design team, including some of our very own CSI Detectives: Emma Trout, Heather Jacob, Riikka Kovasin, and Tracee Provis. You really must check out Scrap365! Check out the Scrap365 blog too for added inspiration.

    Under Surveillance

Tell Your Story. It's our tagline, and here at CSI, it's one of our missions to get our members to delve deeper into journaling--to document the meaningful bits and pieces that make up our lives. We would like to shine a special spotlight each week on a member who did an exceptional job telling their story. Click here to see an archive of all our Star Witnesses.

    The Cake by Tjet

What a delightful story! We enjoyed reading about Tjet's family birthday cake tradition, and specifically about her dad's order of a Red Devil's Food Blender Cake. The specificity of her details, including dialogue, made her story come alive, and we loved that she told the tale in present tense. And we giggled at the lovely ending! Thank you for sharing this charming story, Tjet!

Each week, five layouts that caught our eye will be chosen to feature as our "Most Wanted." With so many amazing layouts in the gallery, it was incredibly hard to narrow the "lineup" down to five, but here they are, in no particular order. (Please click on the title beneath the layout to take you to the layout in the gallery where you can leave the artists some comments.)

    A Flight by Melenia

Mas y Mas Alto! by Celeste Delorenzi

And just because there were too many fantastic layouts in the gallery, here are a few more that caught our eye.
