Happy Friday! And happy September! Wow! A new month brings new things to CSI, and have we got some exciting new surprises for September!

We have not only one new sponsor for September, but two! First, we so excited to have 7 Dots Studio. 7 Dots Studio is a Polish scrapbooking company, born of a dream come true by two friends, Finnabair (Anna Dąbrowska-Pękocka) and Anai (Anna Iwanowska-Pietkiewicz), wonderful women, scrapbookers and designers who love creating. 7 Dots Studio chooses the best quality material for their beautiful products, which are sold in shops throughout the world.  A peek at the 7 Dots Studio blog will show you the beauty of their products and the immense talent of their design team. We are so lucky to have the 7 Dots Studio design team joining us as Guest Detectives this month.

We also are thrilled to announce that Flying Unicorn will be a permanent sponsor for the coming year, starting this month. Flying Unicorn...it’s about One of a Kind. They offer an incredible selection of products for all paper crafting artists. Their Kit of the Month if filled with the latest and greatest and includes an off-the-page project to keep your creative muse flowing! The Flying Unicorn design team will be joining us in future months as Guest Detectives.

For September, we also have a new batch of fabulous guest designers. Lots and lots of them!

Joining us from 7 Dots Studio this week are Anna Zaprzelska, Hege A. Lundquist, and Tara Orr. Their gorgeous work will surely inspire us all!

We have not only one Special Agent this month, but a whole TEAM of Special Agents. You might have seen us dropping hints on Facebook about a special surprise for September. This month, CSI is teaming up with our friends at Once Upon a Sketch to present a wonderful twist on our Case Files! We are adding Nadia Cannizzo's fabulous sketches to our Case Files, and the OUAS design team will be joining us as Special Agents. Our Detectives' work will also be displayed alongside the OUAS design team's work at the Once Upon a Sketch blog. When you visit Once Upon a Sketch, you will notice that several of our CSI Detectives are also OUAS artists: Helena Virpi, Tina Walker, Eila Sandberg. Heather Jacob and Maiko Kosugi are OUAS alums. We think this is going to be a fun and fabulous challenge for you! Thank you to Nadia for this wonderful brainstorm!

As always, we have handpicked four CSI Members to join us as our September team of Special Investigators. Please welcome Anupama Choudary, Elaine Forum Smidt, Karen Watson, and Zeffy Konstantinidis. These ladies' beautiful work has consistently caught our eye in the gallery, and we are so happy to have them with us this month!

Please use the links to visit all these ladies' pages in the Guest Detective forum to say hi and to hear how they responded to our "Interrogation."

As always, Michele has created a awesome set of printables for you! Check out all the awesome leaves and fun speech bubbles Michele included this week!

CSI Coordinates can always be found at the bottom of the reveal threads.  Scroll all the way to the bottom, where it says "Attachments." They are just above the reply box. Read about some tips on how to use these cool printables here

So are you ready for this week's challenge? For September, we have a brand-new theme. Here in the United States, September is when school is just beginning, so this month, we are celebrating literacy and learning with our beautiful Case File Images. This week's image is by a wonderful Argentian illustrator and artist, Claudia Degliuomini.

Grab your forensics kits, CSI members, and get ready for some serious sleuthing as we open Case File No. 36.

**Remember to scroll all the way down for RGB codes, color descriptions, and more thorough explanations of the Evidence and Testimony prompts.

Presenting our Guest Detectives from 7 Dots Studio...

Here is how our Special Agents from Once Upon a Sketch solved Case File No. 36...

This is how our talented team of Special Investigators have solved the case...

And this is how the CSI Detectives have cracked the case, arranged by predominant color in the order of The Scheme...

**Detailed clues, as promised...

THE SCHEME - USE ALL 5 COLORS:

  • D is for Di Serria - a deep orange, taken from the rock on the left - 222.142.89
  • H is for Hot Toddy - an orange-y brown, taken from the letter y - 184.129.72
  • Q is for Quarter Spanish White - light cream, taken from the background - 248.242.230
  • P is for Parchment - grayish yellow with a hint of green, taken from the letter H - 238.231.202
  • N is for New Orleans - a buttery yellow, taken from the Z - 242.222.160

THE OUAS SKETCH - USE THE SKETCH AS INSPIRATION FOR YOUR DESIGN

  • You must use the entire case file, which includes the OUAS sketch.
  • You may interpret the elements in the design as you wish, but use the basic composition of the sketch.
  • You may flip or rotate the sketch to suit your design.
  • Have fun!

EVIDENCE - CHOOSE AT LEAST TWO ELEMENTS:

  • mesh (inspired by the net)
  • Use letters as embellishments
  • leaves
  • misting
  • fibers (inspired by her hair)
  • tone on tone
  • elements that float across the page
  • include curved, organic shapes in your design (inspired by the rocks)

TESTIMONY - CHOOSE AT LEAST ONE ELEMENT:

  • Write your journaling in the form of a letter (inspired by the letters).
  • Write an acrostic using the letters of a person's name or the subject of your layout.
  • Use some of the letters in the inspiration image to generate words that describe your topic.
  • Scatter your journaling across your page.
  • Write your journaling in speech bubbles.
  • Inspiration Words: catch, [on] top, float -- use these as inspiration for your journaling, not just as a title

We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!

The deadline for completing Case File No. 36

is Sunday, September 16, 11:59 p.m. EST.

Thus, you have a week plus the two weekends to complete your layout.

(See count-down timer on the right-hand sidebar of most pages.)

We can't wait to see what YOU create!
