Tell Your Story. It's our tagline, and here at CSI, it's one of our missions to get our members to delve deeper into journaling--to document the meaningful bits and pieces that make up our lives. We would like to shine a special spotlight each week on a member who did an exceptional job telling their story.
Carolina's approach to journaling about her astrological sign is so creative. We love how she not only documented all the different traits of her star sign but then went through and highlighted, circled, and made little comments about certain things! Such a creative way to tell her story!
Here is a close-up of Carolina's page (there are more closeups in the link above).
We couldn't let National Poetry Month end without highlighting our favorite poem written this week. Not only are Lindy's photo and page beautiful, the images and language in her poem are absolutely exquisite!
Each week, five layouts that caught our eye will be chosen to feature as our "Most Wanted." With so many amazing layouts in the gallery, it was incredibly hard to narrow the "lineup" down to five, but here they are, in no particular order. (Please click on the title beneath the layout to take you to the layout in the gallery where you can leave the creators some comments.)
What a creative and beautiful layout Teresa has made! Her precious kitty's face immediately caught our eye. The photo goes so well with the palette. The little ditty Teresa added to one of the circles made us smile. We love the circles in the design and the leafy branches made of music paper and that sweet little bird perched on the yellow branch. Our favorite detail is the raining clouds! We think Teresa's layout is purr-fectly awesome!
Such a sweet and darling photo, and just perfect for this palette! Jennifer's page is absolutely beautiful. The photo and papers just seem to flow together. We love the repetition of circles and how Jennifer's use of the strong navy and the vibrant yellow is perfectly balanced with the harmonious green. Jennifer has designed her page in such a way that the eye travels around taking in all the perfect little details and then travels back to that sweet and touching photo.
Belinda's page is out fantastic! The bold blue captured our attention right away. The way she cut the ring out of the October Afternoon Rocket Age paper and mounted it on another sheet of the bold blue from the same collection looks so cool. We love the circular photos that echo the larger circle and help to tell the bubble story and how she's drawn attention to the pictures with that fabulous yellow paint work. The spray of beautiful flowers juxtaposed with the space-themed pictures and the whimsical buttons adds so much interest and fun to this stellar page!
The quiet simplicity of Elaine's page grabbed our attention. The cardstock strips framing her photo were expertly arranged with the yellow placed to draw attention to that sweet little babe. All of the elements on Elaine's page complement this seaside photo--the mesh, the starfish and shell bits, the seagull. Our favorite detail is the spiral cut-out shapes that echo the spiral pattern in the background. We especially love Elaine's heartfelt, poetic journaling.
Nicole's page is so fun and full of energy! She has so much going on here with all of the planets and stars and rockets, but everything is just perfectly placed and well balanced. Her son's Leo characteristics shine through in the adorable photo. We love the layering of elements here. Nicolle's page is out of this world!
Lisa's clean design perfectly suits her beach photo. Though her details are spare, each and every one is so interesting. The stitching across the photos is so creative and cool. We love how she's overlapped two circles to frame the picture. We love the repetition of circles throughout her page, from the framing circles to the layered felt circles to the stamped dots, and we thought it was clever how one of the layered felt circles looks like a sun--a perfect accent for this beach page. Lisa's page has a perfect beach escape feel to it!
Debbie's page is so lovely and sweet. We just love the page design and how the bold blue lacy border and fussy-cut florals draw attention to that darling photo of her great-niece, which was just perfect for this palette. The lacy borders look beautiful against the teal dotted cardstock. From the photo to the lovely butterflies to the "oh so little" caption to the poem, Debbie's page is pure sweetness!
What a fun and fabulous layout by Claudia! We fell in love with the design of this page, and how Claudia has incorporated NYC maps into her patchwork design. The narrow rectangular photos detailing all the different sites flow seamlessly through the design. We loved the whimsy of the circles that flow across the page and how she's tied them up. The hand-stitching looks fabulous, the little pops of red add excitement and energy, and we love how she's added a poem to encircle the title. Claudia has crafted a very creative and energetic page!
Arnlaug's page is about her energetic, science-loving, bibliophile nephew, and the design of her page tells the story just as effectively as her journaling does. We love the layers of book pages as a backdrop to her page, and she did a terrific job incorporating the CSI Coordinates into her design. There are so many meaningful little details that tell the story and make this page a joy to look at!
Ayeeda's page is cool with a capital C! We were just fascinated by all the layers and shapes going on in this page! The repetition of stars and circles makes this page fun and energetic and well designed. We thought it was cool how she journaled inside those stamped, linked circles. The page has a perfect teen vibe to go with the beautiful photo. Ayeeda, we think YOU rock, girl!
