Hi, CSI Members! I'm Debbi Tehrani, the founder of CSI. I live in Frederick, Maryland, with Farzad, my husband of 30 years. We have no children, but we have three cats and a bearded dragon. The beardie accompanies me to school, where I teach fifth grade.
I've been scrapping for about a dozen years. I scrap 8 x 8, which is why you will see only one photo on most of my layouts. I love telling stories on my pages and using elements that will help to tell my stories. For me, scrapbooking is a creative outlet and a way to capture and celebrate all the random little things that make my life special and meaningful.
The internet has transformed my hobby from a solitary passion to one that I can share with friends I have made all over the world. I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to create this challenge site and to be working alongside so many talented people. I am looking forward to forging new friendships and being inspired by all the members of the CSI community!
What is your favorite color(s) to work with? This is a very hard question because I love color. I would love to say "all of them," but that would be cheating, so if I have to choose, I'll go with green. I pretty much love all shades of green, and I love that green can go with most any color and can even act as a neutral.
What would you say is your "fingerprint" on your scrapbook pages? (i.e., what do most of your pages have that make it your signature style?) Almost all of my pages include stitching and stories and lots of layers and little details tucked in here and there. I also use lots of word stickers. I like for my details to help convey my story.
What do you find most challenging when working on a layout? Fitting everything on my 8 x 8 page. Since I love lots of embellishing AND telling stories AND photos, I have to really plan everything out so it'll fit on my small canvas. Sometimes that means I have to resort to hidden journaling, but I almost always have a story on my page.
What is your favorite part about CSI--the colors, the stories, or the inspiration? Well, of course I love all three! It's the color aspect that compelled me to create this site. It's just such an interesting and fun way to scrap! But for me, my layouts don't feel complete without a story, so I might have to say the stories. (I'm secretly hoping to start a revolution here by including the journaling part of the challenge because I think that part of scrapping has gotten lost over the past few years. I think the varied prompts will be fun ways to include stories on our pages.) I can't wait to read all the stories you will be sharing with us!
Confession time. Okay, fess up! What secret do you not want to admit but are willing to confess here? This is totally embarrassing, but I don't put my pages in my albums. They just pile up and pile up. I currently have half a dozen foot-tall stacks of layouts that need to go in albums!
