TESTIMONY
Document a child hood memory
One stinking hot, dusty, day (about 110 ℉) in February, we three sisters were in the garden, slurping peaches still warm from the tree.
We begged to play under the sprinkler, but our farm was entirely reliant on tanks of rain water, so wasting water was never an option.
Mum said “Try to imagine you are at the sea side”
“What is the sea side Mum?”
“At the edge of the land there is a whopping big salty dam of water, much bigger than the dam where the cows and horses drink”
She recited the poem about the owl and the pussy cat, so we climbed aboard our imaginary boat with our pet kitten and amused ourselves for the rest of the day cruising the ocean.
“The owl and the pussy cat” by Edward Lear 1812-1888
