15 - The Bookmobile

In order to do a layout about the Bookmobile from my childhood, I had to do a bit of improvising. I didn’t have any photos of the bookmobile, so I found pictures of bookmobiles on line from that time period that resembled our bookmobile. The photo of the inside looks just as I remember ours. I don’t have a lot of photos of myself from that time period so I recycled the photo of me that I used in the “My Ginnies” layout. I did a little Photoshopping and used the Poster Edges filter, cut a slit in the photo and inserted a copy of one of my favorite books from when I was a child. The evidence I used was a book page, metals (the keys), the moon and zig-zags. For my testimony I used “Once a upon a time” and told about the beginning of my love of reading. My journaling is on the cards in the pocket. And it reads.
“Once upon a time there was a little girl named Sara sho went to country school. One day a large truck pulled up by the school. It was the Bookmobile. The Bookmobile was a wonderful thing. It had lots of books in it and each child could check out two books and take them home to read. Sara loved it when the Bookmobile came to school. It was the beginning of her love for reading.”
“The Bookmobile was my introduction to the public library. And although as I grew older my mother would take us to the downtown library, it was the Bookmobile where I had my first library experience. When each school year ended, the Bookmobile continued to come to our neighborhood throughout the summer vacation. What was even better was that it came every week during the summer. Mom would load us up in the car or we would walk with our friends to the Bookmobile. I remember spending many a summer day reading the latest Beverly Cleary book or enjoying the adventures of Betsy and Tacy. The Bookmobile is a very fond memory for me.”

What a wonderful story, Sara, and I so love that you didn't let a lack of pictures stop you from telling it. Your posterized photo holding the book is so creative, and way to go finding old pics on the internet that could bring your story to life! So  many wonderful details on here--the library pocket, the bok page, the CSI Coordinates pieces that help to tell your story. Just love this!
