I know it's overdue but I still wanted to upload my work for case 3... I'm following up on our story from when we moved to Patagonia 5+ years ago and this page tells the story of the adventure that was for the girls (and myself!) to visit the nice greenhouse we have in Trevelin... I'll never forget Larita's face (she was just 2!) or Ali's desperation at not knowing what to choose... so many options!! I gave each of them 16 pesos (at that time they could actually do something with it!) and the picture at the bottom shows part of what they managed to get with that money. Once we got back home we all made together our very first small garden... it was so exciting! A real adventure for us all.
I started with a plain white watercolor paper and played around with watercolors, alcohol and salt to get the background I wanted to:

This is a closeup of the velllum quote and journaling:

And here is a closeup of the "net" I did with nots, before adding the word "vivero" (greenhouse) on top of it:

There are step by step instructions on everything I did on this page, in my blog:

Again, the blog is in Spanish but with tons of photographs so everyone can follow.
Thanks for visiting! :)

A fun colourful layout!
Comment by Jenny Evans on January 31, 2012 at 12:52pm Oh wow, such a fun, bright layout!! Loving the background and all the stitching!!
Thanks Debbi, Caroline, Wendy! so many nice comments :) and I wasn't very happy with this page at the beginning... It was too improvised, no sketch whatsoever (and I usually do sketch!)
But now that I look at it, I kind of made friends with it :) and yes... I did like the word "vivero" (greenhouse) from the title... that's a technique I've seen in a scrap book a while ago and I already used it a few times cause I love it... never in this particular "movile" arrangement (attaching letter by letter with a brad so that it would move like those puppets we create at school :)
Well, starting my day here... wish you all a wonderful Tuesday!
BTW, don't we get to know each Monday who's on the "watch list" for the previous week? I'm kind of intrigued with so many beautiful pieces for week 3... I wouldn't like to be in CSI team shoes for that! :)
i love the stitching... wow.. you are so detailed in your work... beautiful touches
Comment by Caroline Jarden on January 30, 2012 at 6:35pm beautiful layout
What a fantastic experience and a wonderful page, Carolina, with so many fantastic details to look at on here! Your title work is really cool! So great that you're documenting your adventures in Patagonia!
Thank you Sandra and Fl! :)
This was for case 2 (I said case 3 in my description... is it evident I uploaded it way too late last night? :)
I have finished my LO for case 3 but I'm having problems uploading it... upload speed is almost dead with my connection. I might need to get to town and use my office connection that is faster to see if it works. Hope I can do that before tonight now that I've finished it on time! :)
Lovely layout. so much colour.
UPS... forgot to rename the photo before uploading it and so it shows "final" as the name of the picture outside this thread instead of "3-Our first visit to the greenhouse". I don't seem to be able to change that unless I reupload it...
