This is my husband being sworn in as a planning commissioner of our city government a few months ago. My journaling, inspired by the "3 wishes" prompts in this week's testimony is three wishes. These are that Don will be able to help our city prosper, which means I must also wish that our state (California) would not be so broke it has to take revenue from the state's newest cities to the point our 11-month old city will likely be bankrupt by 2015. Due to some legislation that would have fixed the problem getting stalled last week in state legislative committees, my third wish is that I could be optimistic. I also used from the evidence list fibers and a wet medium (three kinds of stamping ink) and fibers, which are surrounding the "journaling box." Depressing politics, but definitely on my mind, and with DH out of the military, his planning commission photo was the best one with a political bent I've printed out. I was worried (correctly) that if I stamped the stars directly onto the background some of them would leave shadows (all of the ones on the white paper did), but then I realized the messy fibers and the messy ink are perfect for the messy not-so-golden state.
